KARACHI: The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Wednesday announced the results for SSC Part I (9th Class) for both Science and General Groups for the year 2025, according to a report by ARY News.

The overall pass percentage across both groups stood at 76.3%, reflecting a solid performance by Karachi’s matriculation students this year.

Over 1.9 lakh students enrolled

A total of 196,714 students were enrolled in the 9th class examinations across various institutions and groups. Out of these, 167,279 students appeared in the exams, while 127,586 students successfully passed, giving the city’s education board a respectable 76.3% success rate.

A spokesperson for the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) said that the board had conducted the exams smoothly across multiple centers in the city and that the results were prepared after a thorough evaluation process.

Science group continues to excel

The Science Group, which had the largest number of examinees — 151,149 students — continued its tradition of strong performance.
Out of these, 78.26% managed to pass their exams, marking it as the highest success rate among all groups this year.

The board’s spokesperson noted that students from the Science stream have consistently maintained a higher success ratio due to better academic engagement and participation in regular schooling compared to private candidates.

General group shows mixed results

In contrast, the General Group recorded a much lower performance level this year.
Out of 14,984 students who appeared, only 8,588 passed their exams, resulting in a 54.38% success rate — nearly 24 percentage points lower than the Science Group.

The board further revealed that private candidates in the General Group fared even worse, with a pass rate of 48.26%, indicating academic challenges among non-regular students.

Within the private general category, 623 students out of 1,146 passed the exams, marking the lowest success ratio among all segments this year.

Results available online

Students can now check their 9th Class (SSC Part I) results for both Science and General Groups on the official BSEK website.

The Karachi Matric Board has advised students to verify their results carefully and contact the board’s examination office in case of any discrepancies.

A step toward SSC Part II

With the announcement of the SSC Part I results, students will now advance to the crucial 10th grade (SSC Part II) year — the final stage before their matriculation certification.

Education experts note that consistent improvements in Karachi’s Science Group results highlight growing academic competition, while the relatively low pass rate in the General Group underscores the need for stronger academic support systems, especially for private and non-regular students.
