$3.94B Acquisition Finalized

Farmers Insurance has completed its landmark acquisition of MetLife’s auto and home insurance business, officially closing the $3.94 billion cash deal on March 21, 2026 . The transaction transfers Metropolitan Property and Casualty Insurance Company and its subsidiaries—along with approximately 2.4 million in-force policies—to Farmers Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group .

10-Year Strategic Partnership

Alongside the acquisition, MetLife and Farmers have established a 10-year strategic partnership . Through this arrangement, Farmers will offer its personal lines products—including auto and home insurance—to MetLife’s U.S. Group Benefits platform, which reaches 3,800 employers and approximately 37 million eligible employees . MetLife employees and group customers now access Farmers coverage through a dedicated portal .

Ramy Tadros, president of MetLife’s U.S. Business, stated: “We look forward to continuing to deliver a broad range of benefits… ensuring employees across the U.S. have access to auto and home coverage through our relationship with Farmers” .

Zurich Sees Growth Momentum

Zurich Insurance Group, Farmers’ parent company, reported strong first-quarter momentum ahead of the deal’s completion . Group CFO George Quinn noted that “the Farmers Exchanges returned to growth even before the addition of the MetLife P&C business at the start of the second quarter,” positioning the company with “great confidence” for the remainder of 2026 .

Farmers Hires Digital Transformation Chief

In a separate strategic move, Farmers Insurance has appointed John Pham as its new Chief Strategy & Risk Officer, reporting directly to CEO Raul Vargas . Pham, formerly Head of Strategic Business Initiatives and Chief Information Officer at GEICO, will lead enterprise-wide technology and operational transformation .

The hire signals Farmers’ commitment to accelerating digital modernization following the MetLife integration. Pham’s mandate includes improving contact center automation, strengthening enterprise learning frameworks, and enhancing customer insights to refine processes .
