LOS ANGELES – Eddie Murphy has confirmed that his son Eric Murphy and Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin Lawrence have welcomed their first child together a baby girl named Ari Skye .
The 65-year-old comedian revealed the news during an exclusive interview at the 51st American Film Institute Life Achievement Award ceremony on April 18 .
“They just had a baby girl. They just had her two weeks ago or a week ago. Yeah Ari Skye,” Murphy told E! News .
The birth creates an unexpected family link between two of Hollywood’s biggest comedy legends. Murphy and Lawrence who starred together in the films “Life” and “Boomerang” are now co-grandfathers .
Jasmin Lawrence 30 is the eldest daughter of Martin Lawrence from his marriage to Patricia Southall. Eric Murphy 36 is Eddie Murphy’s oldest child from his relationship with Paulette McNeely .
The couple who secretly married in a small church ceremony in May 2025 announced their pregnancy in February 2026 with a heartfelt Instagram post . “Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift” they wrote alongside black-and-white photos showing Jasmin’s baby bump .
Martin Lawrence previously expressed his excitement about becoming a grandfather. “What a blessing to start the day! My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude” he wrote on Instagram after the pregnancy announcement .
