Trump Warns of Imminent Military Action Against Iran

President Donald Trump has threatened fresh military strikes against Iran as early as Wednesday night, firmly ruling out any diplomatic agreement with Tehran while reiterating that Washington will never allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.

Speaking at the NATO summit in Ankara alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump accused Iran of launching missile and drone attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz a day earlier. “There is a chance we will strike Iran again tonight,” Trump told reporters, adding: “We are going to hit Iran hard tonight.”

The US president characterized the American campaign as an effort toward Iran’s “denuclearisation” rather than a war, insisting Washington could eliminate Tehran’s nuclear capability without reaching any formal agreement.

US Rejects Nuclear Negotiations

Trump declared that any interim understanding with Iran was “over,” stating: “I don’t think there is an interim agreement with Iran anymore. I don’t want a deal with Iran.”

He sharply criticized former President Barack Obama’s 2015 nuclear agreement, calling it “the worst deal in history” and alleging the Obama administration had provided Iran with billions of dollars. Trump accused Tehran of aggressive behavior spanning 47 years and claimed, without providing evidence, that Iran was responsible for thousands of US troop deaths.

Ukraine Support and NATO Commitments

Trump announced plans to grant Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot missile systems, citing US interests in Ukraine’s mineral resources. He expressed confidence in achieving a ceasefire to save lives and indicated he expected to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin later Wednesday, noting Moscow’s conditions for ending the war were evolving.

President Zelenskyy expressed hope that Trump would help secure a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

Trade Policy and NATO Criticism

Trump also renewed criticism of NATO and announced plans to end US trade ties with Spain, while describing his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as productive.
