Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi launches a fierce attack on Maulana Fazlur Rehman during a heated Senate session, triggering protests from JUI-F lawmakers.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi accused Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leaders of previously requesting governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a heated Senate session on Wednesday.

Addressing PTI senators, including Barrister Ali Zafar, Naqvi claimed JUI-F representatives had approached the government seeking action against the provincial administration.

His allegations sparked strong protests from JUI-F lawmakers, particularly Senator Kamran Murtaza, forcing the Senate chair to intervene repeatedly.

Mohsin Naqvi Responds to Fazlur Rehman

Naqvi also strongly criticised JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over his recent statements concerning the interior minister’s visit to Iran.

Rejecting suggestions that Pakistani officials had travelled to Tehran to negotiate a defence agreement, Naqvi clarified that the visit focused on addressing the ongoing regional crisis.

He maintained that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had personally assigned him responsibilities related to the situation.

JUI-F Accused of Exploiting Religion

The interior minister further accused JUI-F leaders of exploiting religion for political and personal interests.

He alleged that the party’s attitude towards state institutions changed depending on whether its leaders received political benefits or government positions.

Naqvi warned that repeated personal attacks and accusations would receive a strong response.

Senate Session Turns Chaotic

Senator Kamran Murtaza repeatedly objected to Naqvi’s statements as tensions escalated inside the House.

The Senate chair urged lawmakers to maintain order and allow the interior minister to complete his remarks.

The confrontation highlighted growing political tensions between the government and JUI-F, with Naqvi’s allegations drawing strong objections from opposition lawmakers.
