Islamabad United continued their dominant run in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, clinching a comprehensive 47-run win over Multan Sultans in the seventh match of the tournament held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Batting first after being put in, United posted a challenging total of 202 for 6 in their 20 overs, thanks to Sahibzada Farhan’s composed fifty and late fireworks from Haider Ali.
Explosive Start Sets Tone for United
Islamabad United got off to a flying start with openers Sahibzada Farhan and Andries Gous putting up a brisk 45-run stand within the first five overs. Gous departed for 9, falling to David Willey in the final delivery of the fifth over, but the early platform had already been laid.
Farhan continued to lead the charge, playing fluently across the line. He stitched a 35-run partnership with Colin Munro, before being dismissed in the ninth over for a well-crafted 53 off 36 balls, laced with seven boundaries and two sixes.
Munro, Haider, and Holder Power Middle and Late Overs
Colin Munro carried the momentum forward with an aggressive approach. The left-hander struck 48 from 25 balls, including four fours and three sixes, forming key partnerships with Shadab Khan and Azam Khan. He fell in the 16th over after holding the innings together during a critical phase.
The highlight of the death overs, however, came from Haider Ali and Jason Holder. The pair added a quickfire 49-run partnership for the sixth wicket, frustrating Multan’s bowlers and pushing United well past the 200-mark.

Haider Ali smacked 33 off 16 deliveries, with three fours and two sixes, before being dismissed on the final delivery of the 19th over. Holder remained unbeaten and played a crucial role in adding depth to the innings.
Multan Sultans’ Bowlers Struggle Under Pressure
Multan Sultans’ bowlers had no answers to the United batting juggernaut. Chris Jordan was the most successful bowler, finishing with 2 wickets for 41 runs. David Willey, Ubaid Shah, and Usama Mir managed one wicket each, but the collective effort wasn’t enough to restrict United under 200.
Despite early breakthroughs and some tight middle overs, Multan’s bowling unit conceded too many boundaries in the death overs, allowing United to post a daunting target.
Sultans Falter in Chase Against United’s Lethal Attack
Chasing 203, Multan Sultans never quite found the rhythm. Islamabad’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding kept the pressure on from the start.
United’s bowlers—backed by pace spearheads Naseem Shah and Riley Meredith—kept breakthroughs coming at regular intervals. The Sultans’ top order failed to put together a substantial partnership, and pressure mounted with every over.
Mohammad Rizwan, the captain and wicketkeeper, could not anchor the innings as expected. The rest of the batting lineup, including Shai Hope, Usman Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed, struggled to deal with United’s attacking bowling plans.
Eventually, Multan Sultans were bundled out 47 runs short of the target, continuing their inconsistent form in the tournament.
