According to the Economist, Eran Segal who is a scientist at the Weizmann Institute has been posting regular updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in Israel alongside details of its vaccination campaign which was initiated six weeks ago.
As per his tweets, since the first of February, he has witnessed a significant drop in the number of hospitalizations in the over 60 categories of people as vaccinations amongst this class of people reaches 70%.
It is believed that after a long wait, the vaccine is finally showing the expected results.
In the same context, it has been recorded that up till the 6th of February, 85% of over 60 categories have been vaccinated as well as a total of 40% of the general population.
This great number of people have already received at least a single dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech mRNA vaccine or in some cases the Moderna mRNA vaccine.
Moreover, 75% of those above 60 had been recipients of second doses as well.
