Pakistan is observing 18th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, the country’s first female Prime Minister, who was assassinated on December 27, 2007. She was a champion of democracy and a symbol of resistance against dictatorship, extremism, Benazir Bhutto served as Prime Minister twice, from 1988-1990 1993-1996 and was the first woman to lead a Muslim-majority nation through democratic elections. Her vision was a Pakistan where all citizens, regardless of religion or creed, could live with dignity and security

She was martyred in a gun and bomb attack while addressing an election rally at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi. Her legacy continues to inspire efforts toward a progressive Pakistan, with her family and party members paying tribute to her life.The 18th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed is being observed today.Pakistan People’s Party has announced grand commemorative events nationwide.The main ceremony in connection with anniversary will be held at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto near Naudero in Larkana this afternoon.PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will deliver a special address at the central ceremony.
