Persistent rain brought an early end to India’s final league match against Bangladesh in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, cutting short what was expected to be a key tune-up ahead of their semi-final clash with Australia.
The match at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai was initially reduced to 27 overs per side due to rain delays. Bangladesh managed 119 for 9 in their allotted overs, with Radha Yadav leading the bowling attack, taking three wickets for 30 runs. Shree Charani also chipped in with two wickets, ensuring the visitors were restricted to a modest total.
Chasing a revised target of 126, India made a steady start. Openers Smriti Mandhana (34*) and Amanjot Kaur (15*) guided the hosts to 57 without loss in 8.4 overs before rain returned, forcing officials to call off play. This was the sixth match of the tournament to be abandoned due to weather interruptions.
The washout deprived India of valuable match practice and momentum heading into the knockouts. The team had been looking to fine-tune their batting combinations and bowling rhythm before the high-pressure semi-final. Despite securing their spot in the final four, the lack of competitive game time could be a concern against a strong Australian side.
As the focus now shifts to the semi-final, India will hope the rain stays away and that their preparations, though disrupted, translate into a confident performance in the pursuit of World Cup glory.
