ISLAMABAD – Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam has publicly praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating dialogue with the United States, commending the country’s role as a “sincere mediator” in ongoing regional peace efforts .
In a post on social media platform X on April 28, Moghadam expressed his “sincere and profound appreciation” to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as officials of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs . He described their work as “tireless” and integral to any potential progress.
“Diplomats are the architects of peace, entrusted with navigating the delicate complexities of international relations through the patient craft of dialogue, empathy, and understanding,” Moghadam wrote . He emphasized that their dedicated efforts “translate political will and principled determination into the practical avenues and arrangements necessary for any diplomatic process to take shape” .
The ambassador highlighted that crucial behind-the-scenes work often begins long before formal negotiations commence, involving detailed coordination that ultimately makes dialogue possible. He described these efforts as “diplomacy in its truest sense — not merely words, but the quiet, persistent labour that makes dialogue possible and peace attainable” .
The praise comes as Pakistan continues to serve as a key mediator between Tehran and Washington following the collapse of planned face-to-face talks in Islamabad . Although a second round of negotiations did not materialize, backchannel communication remains active with Pakistan officials working to bridge gaps remotely .
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir have both held extensive meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in recent days, reflecting Pakistan’s continued commitment to a diplomatic resolution of the conflict
