Pakistan’s fiery paceman Hasan Ali wrote his name into the record books with a sensational bowling display for the Birmingham Bears in the 2025 Vitality T20 Blast, delivering a six-wicket spell that left Derbyshire Falcons stunned. Making just his second appearance for the Bears this season, Hasan ran riot at Edgbaston, taking 6 for 23—the best-ever bowling figures by a Bears player in the tournament’s history.

His spell included a thrilling hat-trick, the first of his T20 career, sending shockwaves through the stadium and sparking jubilant celebrations among the home crowd.

A Plan, A Yorker, and History Made

Speaking after the match, Hasan detailed the crucial moment leading to the hat-trick. “Actually, there was a plan,” he revealed in a post-match interview with Geo News. “I spoke with Tom Latham after my second wicket. We noticed the batter standing deep on the leg side. I said, ‘Let’s go for the yorker.’ I bowled it—and it worked.”

The result was explosive, and so was his celebration. Sprinting with arms stretched wide, Hasan ignited Edgbaston with his trademark energy. “I just ran away like a burnt angel and did my celebrations,” he laughed.

For the Fans: Hasan’s Passion Beyond the Numbers

Throughout the interview, the 30-year-old emphasized his connection with the fans, stating, “We are playing for the fans, and it won’t be wrong if I say my fifer is for them.”

He described the importance of engaging the crowd—not just with skill, but with spirit. “I think my celebration is something that pumps up the crowd and gives them energy too. We entertain with our skills and with our attitude. Even the celebrations are part of the show,” he added.

Following in Tahir’s Footsteps—with His Own Flair

Hasan is now one of only two Bears bowlers to have taken a T20 hat-trick, joining Imran Tahir in that elite club. Reflecting on the South African spinner’s iconic celebration, Hasan said, “I can never match Imran Tahir’s celebration—he runs miles! But for me, cricket is about entertainment.”

He further reflected on the evolution of the game, mentioning how Test cricket too is adopting the high-energy ethos of T20s. “Even ‘Bazball’ in Tests is about entertainment now,” he noted.

A Resurgence in Full Flow

Hasan’s performance for the Bears comes on the back of a standout PSL 2025 season, where he was among the top wicket-takers for Karachi Kings. His impressive domestic form earned him a recall to the Pakistan T20 squad for the series against Bangladesh, and now his performances in England are solidifying his status as a world-class white-ball bowler.

“This is my third T20 five-for,” he said. “Honestly, I didn’t know it was a record for the Bears, but I feel lucky and blessed to perform when it’s needed most.”

Keeping Momentum and Eyes on the Knockouts

After a rocky start to their 2025 campaign, the Bears have now clinched back-to-back wins. Hasan believes the team is beginning to click at the right time.

“We lost our first two games, but now we’re building momentum,” he stated confidently. “We’re aiming for the knockout stage this time—and Inshallah, try to win the trophy.”

The Bears’ next challenge comes against Northamptonshire Steelbacks, a matchup that will see Hasan reunite with former Karachi Kings coach Ravi Bopara. “It’ll be fun playing against him,” Hasan smiled. “The squad’s confident after two wins, and we’re ready.”

The Demands of a Modern Cricketer

Hasan also opened up about the physically demanding nature of the modern cricket calendar. Having moved swiftly from domestic tournaments in Pakistan to the PSL, then international duty, and now the Blast, he acknowledged the relentless pace.

“The life of an international cricketer is very demanding,” he admitted. “You finish one tournament, and the next day you’re flying to another country to play. But if you eat well, sleep well, and stay disciplined, your body adjusts.”

He drew inspiration from Sikandar Raza, who made headlines for flying from England to Pakistan just before the PSL final—and still delivering a match-winning performance. “That’s the life now. We have to adapt, stay disciplined, and take care of our bodies.”
