Dr Fowzia Siddiqui gets five-year multiple entry visa to the USA to meet her sister Dr Aafia
ISLAMABAD: Dr Fowzia Siddiqui got five-year multi entry of the United States to meet her imprisoned sister Dr Aafia.
Dr Fowzia will be travelling to the states soon to meet her sister Dr Aafia in the presence of her attorney in the United States.
Both sisters will meet for three days _ from 29 to 31 May in the American
prison. These meetings will be held in the presence of American
lawyer Clive Smith.
Dr Aafia has been imprisoned for 86 years on fabricates charges of trying to
murder the US troops in Afghanistan.
On Monday, the Islamabad High Court issued an order directing the
authorities concerned to provide details of the case against Aafia Siddiqui to
her legal counsel.
The MIT-trained neuroscientist, Aafia Siddiqui, has been serving an 86-year
prison sentence. A US court convicted her of seven counts of attempted murder
along with assault on the US troops in Afghanistan.
The IHC also ordered that all documents and information related to Dr. Aafia
Siddiqui be shared with her lawyer.
The US lawyer, nevertheless, made it clear that this information will not be
utilized for any other purpose.
Notably, a single bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Justice
Sardar Aijaz Ishaque Khan conducted a hearing of the petition of Dr Fowzia
Siddiqui.
She moved the court through his lawyer, Imran Shafiq Advocate, to get
details of the case from the council of Dr. Aafia in the United States, Clive
Stafford Smith.
The court also ordered the authorities to ensure the security of Dr. Fowzia
Siddiqui in the United States.
Earlier this year, Dr. Fowzia Siddique called on Prime Minister Shehbaz
Sharif and thanked the government for supporting her in meeting Dr. Aafia
Siddiqui.
