Islamabad, May 5, 2025: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is set to revolutionize Islamabad’s urban landscape with its ambitious Jinnah Square Downtown project, a vast residential and commercial hub covering 5,400 kanal along the prominent Srinagar Highway and Murree Road.
Spanning from the One Constitution building to near the Bhara Kahu Bypass, this development promises a blend of luxury living and modern infrastructure.
Envisioned to feature a mix of hotels, apartments, commercial zones, and recreational spaces, the Jinnah Square Downtown will offer 40% built-up area, while dedicating 60% of the space to parks, green spaces, and roads, ensuring a balanced environment.
The project’s prime location, nestled between Rawal Dam and the Margalla Hills, is poised to attract significant investment, with CDA officials projecting it could generate trillions of rupees in the next two decades.
Currently, over 90% of the necessary land has been acquired, with only a small section in Malpur still pending resolution.
The final proposal will be submitted to the federal cabinet for approval through the Ministry of Interior. CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, who first conceptualized the project after identifying large vacant plots during site visits, is keen to see the development proceed.

If greenlit, international consultants will be brought in for its detailed planning and execution.
In addition to Jinnah Square, the CDA is also working on an underpass project on Murree Road, slated for completion by the end of May.
This development will significantly ease traffic congestion, providing a direct connection to Srinagar Highway and enhancing accessibility for residents and businesses alike.
