China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng reaching Islamabad on July 30 to bolster CPEC and bilateral ties

China’s Vice Premier

China’s vice premier He Lifeng is set to visit Pakistan from July 30 to August 1, 2023. Lifeng is also a Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. He also serves as a Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping. His three-day visit is crucial for bolstering CPEC and the two nations’ bilateral ties.

The Foreign Office announced that the Pakistan government extended an invitation to the Chinese government representative, scheduling the visit accordingly.

During the visit, Vice Premier He Lifeng will participate in the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He will meet with President Arif Alvi and prime minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The FO stated that He Lifeng will be the chief guest at the event commemorating a decade of CPEC. Lifeng played a vital role in China’s international economic relations and the BRI Initiative. The CPEC is a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) of China.

Chinese vice premier also played a key role as the chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (2017-23). He contributed a lot to planning and executing multiple CPEC projects in Pakistan.

The visit forms part of the regular high-level exchanges and dialogue between Pakistan and China. It showcases the mutual importance attached to further deepening their “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.”

It aims to reaffirm support for issues concerning each other’s core interests. His visit will enhance economic and financial cooperation, and promote the high-quality development of CPEC. Both countries will explore new avenues to strengthen trade and investment ties.
