Spiritual Leader Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Honored with ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has awarded the highest civilian honor in Pakistan, the ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan,’ to Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community.

The special ceremony took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, with the presence of Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla, and Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori.

Last month, the president approved the conferment of the civil award under Article 259 (2) of the Constitution and the Decorations Act 1975. Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, recognized as the 53rd al-Dai al-Mutlaq and head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, was acknowledged for his global influence, with a significant number of followers in Pakistan.

The citation read at the President’s House highlighted Dr Saifuddin’s noteworthy contributions, including the establishment of the School of Law at the University of Karachi. Additionally, he initiated a project for the creation of a cutting-edge university in Pakistan. Dr Saifuddin, accompanied by his family, arrived in Karachi on November 20.

On November 27, a ceremony was held where Dr Saifuddin and caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar inaugurated the newly named School of Law building at the University of Karachi in recognition of the spiritual leader’s efforts.
