Former cricketer Abdul Razzaq has expressed scepticism about Babar Azam’s capability to lead, suggesting that the Pakistan star batsman lacks the necessary leadership skills for captaincy.

Razzaq shared his views on the Geo News program ‘Haarna Mana Hay’, emphasizing his intent to offer insights not commonly discussed. Reflecting on the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, Razzaq criticized Babar’s decision-making, particularly for not deploying an experienced bowler against Karachi Kings’ platinum pick, Kieron Pollard, who is known for his potential to score significantly in the final overs of a T20 match.

Despite Razzaq’s critique of Babar’s leadership, he acknowledged the positive momentum Babar brings to the batting lineup and stressed the importance of a strong middle order, where Babar plays a pivotal role. In contrast, former woman cricketer Kainat Imtiaz praised Babar and Mohammad Rizwan for creating a solid batting foundation, expressing admiration for both national team players.

In a recent match of the ongoing PSL at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Karachi Kings emerged victorious over Peshawar Zalmi by seven wickets. Kieron Pollard played a key role in the win, leading the one-time PSL champions to achieve a 155-run target.
