The appointment process for Balochistan’s caretaker chief minister faced delays. However, Ali Mardan Khan Domki’s name was eventually approved by the governor after deliberations by the parliamentary committee. This committee had been tasked with nominating the new Chief Minister, and their recommendation was forwarded to the governor for approval.

Previously, the outgoing Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo and opposition leader Malik Sikander Khan were unable to reach a consensus on a name. The parliamentary committee was formed to decide the interim Chief Minister through a consensus.

Ali Mardan Khan Domki’s nomination had initially been proposed by former Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Malik Khan. However, the outgoing Chief Minister Bizenjo had initially refused to accept this nomination. The matter had been referred to the parliamentary committee to reach a resolution.

The Balochistan assembly was dissolved on August 12th. The former CM and former opposition leader had three days to choose a candidate for the interim Chief Minister position.
