According to India Today, a woman in the Indian state of Maharashtra bit her mother-in-law’s fingers when she turned off the TV.

Vrushali Kulkarni, 60, was reciting religious hymns in the living room as her daughter, Vijaya, 32, watched TV in another room.

There was a fight between the two after the 60-year-old woman urged her daughter-in-law to lower the level. Vijaya, outraged, seized her mother-in-hands law’s and bit off three of her husband’s mother’s fingers.

It has been said that when Vijaya’s husband tried to intercede, he received a slap from his wife.

Officials said the elderly woman’s fingers were injured but not entirely severed.

Upon receiving a complaint from Vrushali, the police formally charged the 32-year-old with a crime.
