Teenage Housemaid
LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: In Lahore, another distressing incident of domestic help abuse has surfaced in which owner tortured a teenage housemaid with scissor, knife and sticks.
An underage house assistant, Sana, reportedly faced severe abuse at the hands of her employer, a woman in Garhi Shahu area in Lahore.
The owner allegedly used scissors, knives, and sticks to inflict brutal torture on the 14-year-old, even going so far as to cut the girl’s hair, Sana told the Child Protection Bureau.
This appalling situation caught the attention of Sarah Ahmed, Chairperson of the Child Protection Bureau. Sarah swiftly directed her team to intervene and take custody of the victimized girl.
Disturbing signs of violence, evident on the girl’s arms, hands, head, and various parts of her body, prompted a vow from Ahmed to ensure justice for the tormented domestic worker.
Sadly, this case echoes a similar incident from January 25, where a 13-year-old female domestic helper underwent brutal abuse from a landlord for accidentally breaking a piece of crockery.
The child was eventually found by highway police, revealing the harrowing experience she faced while residing in the home of a former Nazim in People’s Colony No 2.

Another case of ‘torture’ against a minor housemaid in Rawalpindi, Punjab, has been reported today.
In Rawat, Rawalpindi, an 8-year-old named Kinza underwent ‘beating’ by her lady owner and husband.
The minor housemaid’s father stated that Bakhtawar, the lady of the house, and her husband tortured Kinza, evident from wounds on her head.
Rawat police station has filed a case against the couple. SP Saddar and ASP visited the minor maid’s home for her well-being.
Authorities assured the family of justice. Despite a law against hiring minor maids, Punjab sees an increase in abuse cases.
Recently, the wife of a civil judge, Somia, allegedly brutally tortured a 14-year-old maid in Islamabad. The girl’s parents reported the case to a local police station.
Accused Asim Hafeez, demoted to OSD, reportedly tortured her maid Rizwana, accusing her of jewelry theft. Somia is presently incarcerated.
