ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa today dispelled speculations and said that he is getting retirement in five weeks.
Nov 29, 2022, will be the last working day of the army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and government is expected to announce the name of new army chief in next two to three weeks.

The COAS had already stated that army will not play any role in politics.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had also stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will appoint the new army chief as per the Constitutional requirements.
He said that five to six names of the Lt-Generals will be recommended to the Prime Minister and he will select one of them as new army chief.
Khawaja Asif also said that the process of the selection of new army chief will either be started at the end of October or at the start of November.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan has called for deferring the appointment of new army chief, saying the rulers were not qualified to take this decision.
The coalition government, nevertheless, has turned down the suggestion of Imran Khan saying the PM is authorized to appoint new chief of army staff.
