Deadly Crash on Desert Highway
At least 35 people were killed and 30 others injured after two passenger buses collided in Syria on Saturday, according to state-run news agency SANA.
The accident occurred on the Deir al-Zor–Damascus highway, a key route connecting the eastern province to the capital.
Details of the Collision
The Interior Ministry confirmed the crash involved a bus carrying members of the Internal Security Forces and a civilian passenger bus. The collision highlights the dangers of long-distance travel on Syria’s highways, which have seen heavy military and civilian traffic during the ongoing conflict.

SANA reported that helicopters from the Defence Ministry assisted in evacuating the injured and recovering the bodies, transporting them from Palmyra Airport to a military hospital in Homs for identification and treatment.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani expressed his condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
