After oath-taking, Dina Boluarte has become the first woman to lead the South American nation _ Peru as President. On Thursday, she was sworn in as president until 2026.

Dina Boluarte urged all the stakeholders for a political truce to end the crisis. She said that the new cabinet will be inclusive of all political.

“There has been an attempted coup … that has not found an echo in the institutions, nor in the street,” she said after her swearing-in.

The opposition-led Peru’s Congress voted with a clear majority for removal of Castillo, who wanted to dissolve the legislature and rule by decree.

Earlier, the sacked President Castillo said that he wanted to “reestablish the rule of law” in Peru but his plan was rejected by opposition leaders and others.

Therefore, Peru’s Congress allowed 60-year-old Boluarte to take over following impeachment of Castillo.
