England seamer James Anderson reaches 1000 first class wickets

After making his first-class debut for Lancashire in 2002 Anderson became the first man to achieve the record since the beginning of the century and the 216th overall

He is the fourteenth player and fifth seamer to achieve 1000 first-class wickets this century, and he is fourth on the list of all-time wicket-takers in Test cricket, and he was bowling at the Old Trafford end dedicated after him. Andy Caddick, the latest fast-bowler to attain the record, in 2005.

Anderson said. “It feels great – I have been getting ribbed from the lads upstairs because I genuinely didn’t know how many wickets I’d taken,”
