Islamabad, June 18, 2025: During an address to the Pakistani diaspora in Washington, Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, made a bold pitch to the United States, stating that while the U.S. is donsidering a $400–$500 billion deal with Ukraine for critical minerals, Pakistan holds reserves worth over $1 trillion.

He emphasized that if the United States invests in Pakistan’s vast mineral resources, it could earn $10 to $15 billion annually, with profits continuing for up to 100 years. “We have untapped treasures waiting to be explored. With strategic U.S. investment, this partnership can become a game-changer for both nations,” said Munir.

The statement highlights Pakistan’s push to attract global investment in its rich mineral sector, particularly at a time when demand for rare earth elements and strategic metals is surging globally. The Army Chief’s address has sparked fresh conversations about shifting U.S. attention towards Pakistan’s mineral wealth as a long-term economic and geopolitical opportunity.
