Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s unwavering focus on addressing both internal and external security challenges, including hostile hybrid campaigns, extremist ideologies and divisive elements threatening national stability.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made these remarks during his visit to the Gujranwala and Sialkot garrisons. During the visit, he was briefed on the formations’ operational readiness as well as key initiatives aimed at further strengthening combat preparedness.
Field Marshal Munir observed a range of field training exercises and toured advanced simulator-based training facilities, where he praised the formations for maintaining high professional standards and a strong state of readiness. The ISPR said he expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness displayed by officers and troops, highlighting the importance of constant training in an evolving security environment.
While addressing personnel, the army chief underscored the growing importance of technological adaptability in modern warfare. He noted that contemporary battlefields demand agility, precision, enhanced situational awareness and swift, well-informed decision-making at all levels of command.
“Modern warfare requires forces to be adaptive and technologically proficient,” the ISPR statement quoted him as saying, adding that continuous innovation and realistic training were critical to maintaining operational superiority.
During his interactions with officers and soldiers, Field Marshal Munir commended their high morale, discipline and steadfast commitment to national defence. He stressed that rigorous, mission-oriented training remains the backbone of an effective fighting force and is essential for confronting both conventional and non-conventional threats.
The army chief also reiterated that the Pakistan Army remains fully alert to hybrid warfare tactics, which combine conventional military pressure with misinformation, cyber threats and psychological operations. He warned that extremist ideologies and internal divisive elements continue to pose serious risks to national cohesion and stability, and reaffirmed the military’s resolve to counter such challenges decisively.
The visit concluded with Field Marshal Munir expressing confidence in the formations’ ability to respond effectively to emerging threats and safeguard Pakistan’s security interests. The ISPR noted that his engagements were aimed at reinforcing operational readiness, boosting troop morale and ensuring that the army remains prepared to meet the demands of an increasingly complex security landscape.
