Foreign Minister Bilawal leaving for US visit tomorrow to attend UN meeting, meet US officials

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is leaving for a week long official visit to United States on Wednesday (Dec 14).

Bilawal’s programme includes multiple multilateral and bilateral engagements in New York and Washington DC.

Foreign Minister will host and chair a two-day Ministerial Conference of G-77 and China in New York from Dec 16.

It is the largest bloc of developing countries within the UN system to discuss issues of mutual interest.

The main agenda of this 2-day conference is an important discussion on multiple challenges being faced by developing nations regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations in the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Climate changes, natural disasters, and geopolitical developments will also be highlighted in the conference.

Foreign Minister Bilawal will also participate in a debate at the UN Security Council on the theme of “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: New Orientation for Reformed Multilateralism” to be held on December 14, 2022. Bhutto will also meet the UN’s secretary general Antonio Guttress.

Meanwhile, Dec 19 Bilawal Bhutto will hold meetings with the US officials, leaders of US Congress, Pakistani-American businessmen.
