KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, a distressing discovery unfolded in Karachi’s Sher Muhammad Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where a woman and her three children were tragically found dead with their throats slit.
The deceased individuals were identified as Saima, wife of Arshad, along with her two-year-old son Ahd, Shahzain aged 7, and 9-year-old Ashh.
Amid the grim situation, the Karachi police took Arshad, the husband of the deceased woman, into custody for investigation. Arshad, a cable operator by profession, was reportedly not present at home when the incident occurred. Allegations of Arshad being addicted to ice, a type of drug, surfaced during the investigations.
Imdad Ali, the uncle of the deceased children, spoke to the media, recounting how he received a distressing call from his brother Arshad around 12:30 am. Upon arriving at the scene, he found the body of his elder nephew on the porch while the bodies of the other two children and his sister-in-law were discovered in separate rooms.
The father of the victim female, Aslam Baloch, lodged a complaint with the police around 1:30 am, asserting that his son-in-law had arrived and claimed that someone had killed his wife and children. The bodies were then moved to Jinnah Hospital for further procedures.
As suspicions mounted, Aslam Baloch accused his son-in-law of the murder without a discernible motive, leading to the initiation of a police case and subsequent investigations.
Arshad had a previous case against him for illegal weapon possession in Aziz Bhatti police station, further highlighting his alleged association with drug addiction.
The accused’s brother presented his statement, narrating that his brother had mentioned returning home after purchasing milk for the children, only to discover the horrifying scene of his wife and children with fatal neck wounds.
He emphasized that financial stability wasn’t an issue for his brother, given his occupation as a cable operator and his possession of properties that generated rental income.
The post-mortem examinations of the bodies have been completed as authorities continue their probing into this distressing incident.
