KARACHI — Mild to heavy rainfall, accompanied by hail, was reported across several areas of Karachi on Tuesday, bringing a brief respite from the city’s typically dry conditions.
Affected Areas
Rainfall with hail was recorded in:
- Gulistan-i-Johar
- Gulshan-i-Iqbal
- Askari IV
- Other parts of the metropolitan city
Weather Forecast
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) attributed the rainfall to “a westerly wave affecting the central and upper parts of the country.”
Earlier Tuesday, the PMD had predicted “partly cloudy weather with chances of light to moderate intensity rainfall with thunderstorm.” The maximum temperature was expected to remain between 25-27°C, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 18.6°C.
Looking Ahead
According to the forecast, Wednesday (February 18) and Thursday (February 19) will be “sunny days,” with clear skies expected across the city.
Provincial Outlook
For the rest of Sindh province, the PMD warned that “thunderstorm/rain of light to moderate intensity may occur” in multiple districts, including:
- Dadu, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro
- Sukkur, Larkana, Kambar Shahdadkot, Shikarpur
- Jacobabad, Ghotki, Kashmore, Khairpur
The department also warned of “gusty/dust-raising winds” during the period.
Residents are advised to exercise caution during travel as roads in affected areas may remain slick.
