The UEFA president reportedly praised Obeid’s abilities and commitment to football, noting how his example provided inspiration to young people in Gaza and elsewhere, helping them maintain optimism for the future. Čeferin allegedly characterized the loss as significant both for the football community and for those who recognize sport’s capacity to motivate and uplift people.

An Israeli military representative, Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani, responded to Salah via X (formerly Twitter), stating that preliminary investigations had not identified any incidents involving Suleiman al-Obeid, and requested additional information to conduct a more thorough examination.
According to the PFA, Obeid’s death increases the total number of Palestinian sports personnel and athletes who have died during the ongoing 22-month conflict to 662.
