ISLAMABAD: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, emphasized the urgent resolution of the Kashmir dispute due to the critical situation in the occupied territory.
Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad alongside Hurriyat leaders from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter, she highlighted the fabricated charges faced by Hurriyat leadership under draconian laws in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Mullick accused India of attempting to execute Hurriyat leaders and creating a distorted narrative ahead of general elections. She pointed out that nearly 50 lakh domiciles have been issued to supporters of RSS and Hindutva under the Modi regime’s policy to alter the demography of the territory.
The purpose of this policy, according to Mullick, is to ensure a manipulated voter turnout in the elections scheduled for September, as Kashmiri people traditionally boycott these elections.
Despite facing a massive Indian army, she stressed the need to bring attention to the Kashmiri people’s cause and the genocide they endure at the hands of Indian forces on Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Mullick called for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to investigate India’s violations in IIOJK and urged that the territory be made accessible to international observers to present the ground realities to the world.
The Kashmir issue remains a contentious point between Pakistan and India, with Islamabad consistently advocating for a plebiscite on Kashmir.
She highlighted the recent ruling by the Indian Supreme Court, stating that Article 370, which granted special status to IIOJK, was temporary, and the occupied territory was an integral part of India.
Mullick criticized the Modi regime for violating UN resolutions and international law by revoking Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution in August 2019, leading to a military siege and the division of the state into two federally administered territories.
The recent verdict by the Indian Supreme Court affirmed that the occupied territory had become an integral part of India.
