Islamabad, May 24, 2025: Napoli were crowned Serie A champions for the fourth time on Friday night after a convincing 2-0 win over Cagliari at the jam-packed Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, edging out Inter Milan by a single point to claim the Italian league title. This is Napoli’s second Scudetto in just three seasons.

Goals from Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku proved decisive on a dramatic final day of the campaign. Despite Inter’s own 2-0 away win at Como, it wasn’t enough to stop Napoli from lifting the trophy.

Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina was sent off late in the first half of his final professional match, but his dismissal didn’t disrupt the team’s push for the serie A champion title.

McTominay, who joined Napoli last August, netted his 12th league goal just before half-time with a stunning volley from Matteo Politano’s cross, capping off a breakout season. The Scottish midfielder has played a crucial role in Napoli’s resurgence under new head coach Antonio Conte.

Lukaku added the second goal five minutes into the second half, powering past Yerry Mina to finish off a long ball from Amir Rrahmani. Though Inter doubled their lead in Como through Joaquin Correa, Napoli’s lead in the standings held firm.

With the domestic title now out of reach, Inter turn their attention to the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in Munich. Coach Simone Inzaghi rested key players for the Como match, clearly focusing on the European final.

Inter’s inconsistent form throughout the season ultimately cost them the league, leaving them one shot at silverware in Europe.

Napoli’s triumph was a moment of joy for their loyal supporters and signaled a new chapter of success for the southern club. Antonio Conte also embed his name in the history books by becoming the first manager to win Serie A with three different clubs, having previously lifted the title with Juventus and Inter Milan.
