During a pivotal meeting in Riyadh, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to deepen bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, and regional affairs. The high-level delegation included Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Syed Asim Munir and senior cabinet members from both countries.
Prime Minister Sharif’s three-day visit to the Saudi capital coincides with the 9th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference, where he will represent Pakistan’s aspirations for sustainable development, economic inclusion, innovation and strategic engagement in global geopolitics. The Pakistani delegation was welcomed at King Khalid International Airport by Riyadh’s Deputy Governor Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al‑Malki and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq.
Discussions focused on expanding collaboration in key sectors including trade, investment, energy and manpower, with a strong emphasis on aligning efforts to tackle shared regional and global challenges. Sharif is also scheduled to meet global leaders and heads of international organisations attending the FII to spotlight Pakistan’s investment potential and sustainable growth agenda.
This visit builds on the landmark Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, whereby both countries committed to treat any aggression against one as aggression against both. The evolving partnership underscores a strategic shift toward closer economic and security integration between the two nations.
