Saba Qamar Reveals Extreme Mental Stress Caused Her Heart Attack: Breaking the Silence on Mental Health

Pakistani Actress Opens Up About Life-Threatening Health Crisis

Renowned Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has bravely shared her harrowing experience of suffering a heart attack caused by extreme mental stress, highlighting the critical connection between emotional wellbeing and physical health.

The Medical Emergency That Changed Everything

In July 2024, the acclaimed Case No. 9 star collapsed on set and was rushed to Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital in Rawalpindi. Doctors confirmed she had suffered a mild heart attack, and she underwent an angiography procedure before being advised complete rest for a month.

Mental Stress: The Hidden Culprit Behind Heart Problems

Speaking on the Green Entertainment Podcast, the 41-year-old actress revealed that doctors identified extreme mental stress as the primary cause of her cardiac episode—not cholesterol or diet-related issues.

“We all think we’re strong enough to handle everything, but the pain and emotions we suppress eventually show up physically—sometimes as panic attacks, anxiety, or even heart problems,” Saba explained.

The emotionally demanding scenes in her drama Case No. 9, where she portrays a rape survivor, had taken a severe toll on her mental and physical health.

Breaking the Mental Health Stigma

Saba addressed the common misconception that wealth and fame protect against mental health struggles. “Mental health issues have nothing to do with wealth or fame,” she stated emphatically. “Talking about it is a sign of strength, not weakness.”

In observance of World Mental Health Month, she shared self-care practices that help her cope, including prayer, journaling, exercise, painting, and music.

The Recovery and Message of Hope

Now recovering well, Saba’s powerful message resonates: mental health is just as important as physical health. Her courage in sharing this experience has helped break the stigma and encouraged countless others to prioritize their emotional wellbeing before stress manifests as serious physical illness.
