ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s paramilitary forces caught at least six suspected Indian smugglers at the border post, as reported by Inter-Services Public Relations.

The armed forces media wing has verified the arrest of the Indian citizens from the Pakistan side of the border. Their detention occurred between July 29 and August 3. The statement has alleged their involvement in smuggling drugs and weapons.

This development follows a recent incident of unprovoked firing from India across the Line of Control, resulting in the unfortunate death of a 60-year-old man in Kotli, Azad Kashmir.

Among the suspects, Gurmej Singh and Shundar Singh belong to the Ferozepur district of Indian Punjab. Identifying the other two suspects, Juginder Singh and Vishal Singh, the authorities also detained Mahendar Singh from Jalandhar and Gurinder Singh from Ludhiana.

Furthermore, the statement expresses concerns about the potential collaboration between Indian border security forces and smugglers, indicating that such a connection cannot be dismissed. The authorities have scheduled the trial of the six suspects under Pakistani laws for their alleged engagement in anti-state activities.

However, the ISPR has expressed surprise at the unrestricted movement of Indian smugglers across the border guarded by the BSF.
