Islamabad, Oct 19: Pakistan Cricket Board has given all power to new selectors so in the center of power these new selectors are most powerful since they will select Pakistan’s playing XI unlike previous situation.
The newborn selectors — Aaqib Javed, Aleem Dar, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Hassan cheema are now all set to select the national team and to finalize the eleven players for a match. This restructuring erases the captain and the head coach from the official list of selectors, though they both stay in contact with the selectors.
However, as the Pakistan Cricket Board review, the captain and the coach will present their preferences, but they will be deprived of voting powers where final decisions rest with the selection committee. This change is desired to bring efficiency to the selection process while defining the structure of decision making.
Recently, on its official website, this new selection policy has been spelt out and the PCB has also stated that non-voting members like assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, director of High-Performance Nadeem Khan, and chairman advisor Bilal Afzal have been dumped from the selection process.
