Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat claimed on Friday that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was removed from the position of chairman within the party due to “unsatisfactory” performance.

This statement follows Barrister Gohar’s announcement that the PTI’s next chairman nominee is Barrister Ali Zafar, with internal elections scheduled for March 3.

Marwat asserted that Gohar’s removal was attributed to incompetence and poor performance, emphasizing that, despite being a gentleman, Gohar failed to meet the expectations of the party workers. According to Marwat, running a party office requires constant activity, and Gohar’s performance did not align with these expectations.

Highlighting the post-election scenario, Marwat criticized the party leadership’s approach, stating that Gohar should have effectively led the party after the polls but fell short. In response to Gohar’s announcement of Ali Zafar as the nominee for the chairman position, Marwat suggested that Gohar’s leadership should have continued.

The PTI, facing internal challenges and the aftermath of the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Supreme Court declaring its intra-party elections unlawful, is gearing up for new leadership.

The party’s internal elections are scheduled for March 3, with candidates allowed to submit their nomination papers on February 23 and 24. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on February 25, and the polling is set for March 3 at the party’s central office and provincial secretariats.
