Midnight Transfer Expected Amid Heavy Security

Security Measures and Hospital Arrangements
An Islamabad Police squad comprising two vehicles, along with traffic and elite police squads, has reached Adiala Jail . Police personnel have been deployed around the jail and along the route to Islamabad .
At Shifa International Hospital, security has been significantly tightened ahead of Khan’s expected arrival. Law enforcement personnel have been deployed around the facility, while additional security measures have been put in place on roads leading to the hospital . Islamabad Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi visited the hospital and reviewed security arrangements . Barriers have been placed on roads leading to the facility, and vehicles parked nearby have been removed .
According to sources, Khan will be shifted to the fourth floor of F Block at Shifa International Hospital, an executive section equipped for specialized tests, including those relating to kidney and liver conditions . Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was also kept in the same block during his hospitalisation .
Medical Board and Family Doctors Enter Adiala Jail
Two members of Khan’s medical board have entered Adiala Jail to examine the former prime minister before his transfer . A medical board comprising specialist doctors, alongside Dr. Uzma Khan and Dr. Faisal Sultan, has concluded its examination of Khan at the jail . A final assessment is being carried out before he is moved to the hospital .
Legal Hurdles and Government’s Stance
The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the authorities to shift Khan to Shifa International Hospital within two days, making Thursday the deadline for the transfer . The government had earlier filed a review petition against the court’s decision, but it was returned by the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office over procedural objections . The government is expected to resubmit the petition after addressing the objections .
Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah said there is no specific deadline for Khan’s transfer and that the government is awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision on its review petition . However, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that there is still time until midnight to implement the court’s order .
PTI Welcomes Transfer, Appeals for Peace
PTI leaders have welcomed the expected transfer and described it as an important development concerning Khan’s health. PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram appealed to supporters not to gather outside the hospital, stressing that Khan’s health and treatment are the priority . PTI workers and family members, including Aleema Khan and Qasim Zaman, have been monitoring developments outside Adiala Jail .
