Swedish police
Swedish police detained many individuals following a violent riot that erupted at a protest involving the burning of the Qur’an. Notorious Iraqi refugee Salwan Momika arranged this fresh incident of the desecration of the Quran.
Momika has become notorious for arranging anti-Islam events in Sweden. His protests, including public desecrations of the Muslim holy book, incited outrage across the world.
The protest occurred in a square in the southern city of Malmo, which boasts a significant immigrant population. Public broadcaster SVT estimated that around 200 people had gathered to witness the demonstration.
Police noted, “Some bystanders expressed upset feelings after the organizer burned writings.” The statement also highlighted that the atmosphere became heated at times. Ultimately the situation led to a “violent riot.”
The protest had concluded once the organizer departed, but a group of individuals remained at the scene. Approximately 10 people were detained for disrupting public order. Police also arrested two others on suspicion of participating in the violent riot.
Many people opposed the burning of the Quran and threw stones at Momika. Footage from the scene depicted some individuals attempting to breach the police cordon. Additionally, a man tried to halt the police car transporting Momika by positioning himself in front of it.
Pakistani-Sweden national detained
In Sweden, a Pakistani man took swift action to prevent the desecration of the Holy Quran and was briefly apprehended.
Salwan Momika obtained another permission from the Swedish police to carry out the desecration of the Quran. He wanted to do it in front of the Pakistani embassy in Stockholm.
However, as Momika began to enact his nasty plan in the presence of police, Shehzad Malik, a Swedish national of Pakistani origin, managed to breach the security and intervened.
Police promptly arrested Malik and removed him from the scene. Nonetheless, Malik kept on saying that he wanted to halt Momika’s actions.
