Karachi Range secured the Sindh Police Games hockey title with a thrilling 3–2 victory over the Training Centre in Sunday’s final at the KHA Ground. The match was packed with drama, as Karachi Range took the lead early, but the Competition Centre fought back before ultimately falling short.
The opening goal came in the 10th minute, when SI M. Arsalan struck for Karachi Range. The contenders responded swiftly: Syed Shoaib Shah leveled for Training Centre in the 14th minute. But Karachi Range regained control before the half, thanks to M. Faheem’s strike in the 23rd minute. Just when it seemed settled, Training Centre’s Saad Mehnaj pulled them level again in the 27th minute, making it 2–2 at halftime.
In the second half, Karachi Range turned up the heat. Faheem grabbed his second goal in the 49th minute, clinching the win and sending his team to the top of the podium. Meanwhile, R.R.F. claimed third place in the tournament.
At the closing ceremony, DIG Traffic Syed Peer Muhammad Shah handed out the awards, with several dignitaries in attendance. Notables included former DIGP Commander Shaukat Ali Shah, SSP Syed Ali Raza, Karachi Commissioner’s Director of Sports Ghulam Muhammad Khan, and Olympians Nasir Ali, Farhat Khan, Iftikhar Syed, and Arif Bhopali, among others. Also present were Dr. S.A. Majid, Mohsin Ali Khan, and Organising Committee Chairman Syed Ejazuddin, alongside Syed Sarfarazuddin and various other prominent figures.
Director Sports Ghulam Muhammad Khan announced special performance awards on behalf of the Commissioner of Karachi. He praised Syed Ejazuddin and Syed Sarfarazuddin for their work organizing the tournament. In addition, SP Saeed Arain, Secretary of the Sindh Police Sports Board, was honored with the Benazir Bhutto Gold Medal for his contributions.
In short, Karachi Range’s clutch performance earned them the championship, and the closing ceremony celebrated not only athletic excellence but also the leadership and organizational efforts that made the Sindh Police Games a success.
