Shehbaz Sharif, the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has confirmed Maryam Nawaz as the party’s candidate for the Punjab Chief Minister position.

During a press conference in Islamabad, attended by PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and PML-Q’s chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Shehbaz announced his intention to request Nawaz Sharif to accept the role of Prime Minister to help navigate the country through its current challenges.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the electoral phase of mutual criticisms is over, and with the parliament’s formation imminent, the priority is to rejuvenate the economy. The coalition’s formation was decided upon at a meeting hosted by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in Islamabad, with key leaders such as Asif Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Sadiq Sanjrani in attendance. Asif Zardari, addressing the media post-meeting, expressed a desire for the PTI to engage in the reconciliation process, stating there were no ideological differences that couldn’t be overcome. He stressed the importance of a unified economic agenda for the betterment of the nation, despite the electoral contestations.

Calls for Reconciliation and Economic Improvement

The leaders present, including MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Sadiq Sanjrani, voiced their support for the coalition and the necessity of moving forward together for Pakistan’s future. Zardari’s call for unity with the slogan “Pakistan Khappay” underscored the sentiment of national cohesion and the urgent need to address economic challenges collectively.
