ECP decides to remove Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan today decided to remove Imran Khan as the chairman of PTI after his conviction in the Toshakhana case.
The Commission took the decision in its crucial meeting held in Islamabad on Monday. Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja chaired the meeting.
The Commission gave a go-ahead to initiate the process to remove former prime minister Imran Khan as chairman of the PTI.
It is expected that the ECP would announce this decision shortly.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan summoned a crucial meeting on Monday to discuss the removal of Imran Khan as PTI chief after his conviction in the Toshakhana case.
A district and sessions court in Islamabad held Imran Khan guilty of corruption in the Toshakhana case. Judge Humayun Dilawar awarded three years imprisonment to Imran Khan for corruption and Rs 100,000 as a fine for submitting fake evidence.

Meanwhile, the ECP would also to discuss the possibility of holding the general elections in the wake of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) decision to hold the next elections according to the 2023 Census.

Furthermore, PTI filed a petition in Islamabad High Court today, seeking the transfer of the party’s chairman from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail. PTI also demanded A-Class facilities for the former prime minister in jail.
In the petition, PTI chairman’s lawyer, Naeem Hyder Punjotha requested the court to provide ‘A’ class facilities to the former prime minister in jail.
The petitioner also asked for permission for the PTI’s legal team members to meet with the party’s chairman in prison.
The counsel urged the high court to allow the PTI chairman’s personal doctor, family members, and senior party leaders to meet him.
