Islamabad, June 19, 2025: In a shocking development, Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) has officially confirmed that three exam papers were partially leaked during the June 2025 session, sending ripples across the student community in Pakistan and beyond.
Following an in-depth internal investigation, Cambridge confirmed paper leak cases involving AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 12, specific parts of Paper 42 from the same subject, and one question from AS & A Level Computer Science Paper 22. However, the authority clarified that no full exam paper was exposed, ensuring the assessment process remains largely intact.
“Our priority is justice for honest students,” stated the CAIE in its official response, emphasizing a firm commitment to academic integrity and student welfare.
Cambridge Exam Leak in Pakistan Triggers Widespread Concern
The CAIE exam leak June 2025 has particularly stirred concerns in Pakistan, where the Cambridge papers leak led to immense stress among students preparing for high-stakes assessments. Uzma Yousuf, Cambridge’s Country Director for Pakistan, condemned the breach and addressed the emotional toll it took on candidates.
“Dishonest individuals caused distress by stealing papers. The real victims are our students,” she said.
Dr. Anthony Dawson, Director of Assessment Standards, assured that remedial steps have been taken to ensure grading fairness, especially for students who remained unaware of the leaks. He added that no student would need to retake the exams and that result release timelines would not be delayed.
Fake and Real Leaks Under Scrutiny
The probe also revealed that several individuals attempted to exploit students by selling fake and real leaked papers online. While most of these were fabricated or exaggerated, three legitimate leaks were verified. Cambridge affirmed that strict action will be taken against all involved, including students, third-party sellers, and even officials.
“Those responsible, including candidates and facilitators, will face consequences,” read the statement, as the investigation nears its final stages.
Government Takes Notice: Cambridge Under Review
The Cambridge assessment leak in Pakistan caught the attention of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Education, where MNA Muhammad Ali Sarfraz presented video evidence of four separate leaks. This led to the formation of a subcommittee chaired by MNA Sabin to evaluate Cambridge’s performance and investigate the situation further.
Meanwhile, Cambridge has shared its findings with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), assuring full cooperation and transparency. The institution reiterated that breaches of this nature are rare, especially considering it administers over two million exams in 160+ countries annually.
Zero Tolerance Policy and Strengthened Security Measures
In light of the 2025 Cambridge paper leak, the exam board announced robust upgrades to its paper security system and maintained a zero-tolerance approach to misconduct.
“We are committed to safeguarding the credibility of our qualifications and the trust of our global student community,” Cambridge concluded.
