Pakistan’s aviation sector is set to witness a major development as Air Karachi, a newly launched private airline backed by some of the country’s top business leaders, prepares to begin its domestic operations. The airline has received its Regular Public Transport (RPT) license from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), positioning itself as a strong competitor in the local aviation market.

Backed by Leading Business Figures

Air Karachi is supported by prominent names from Pakistan’s business community, including Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, S.M. Tanveer, Bashir Janmohammad, Zubair Tufail, Hanif Gohar, Khalid Tawab, Hamza Tabani, and Atif Ikram Sheikh, the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).

Incorporated in November 2024, the airline secured its registration through the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). A collective investment of PKR 5 billion was made, with each investor contributing approximately PKR 50 million. This strong financial backing demonstrates the confidence of Karachi’s business elite in Pakistan’s aviation potential.

Launch Plans and Operational Strategy

Air Karachi is set to launch domestic flights with an initial fleet of three leased aircraft. The airline aims to connect major cities across the country, improving accessibility and offering passengers more travel choices. Operations will be based out of Karachi, which will serve as its primary hub.

The airline is led by Retired Air Vice Marshal Imran, who brings extensive experience in aviation management and will oversee the airline’s safety standards, operational performance, and customer service.

Regional and International Expansion Plans

While Air Karachi will begin with domestic services, the airline has a clear vision for regional and international expansion. Once the domestic network is stabilized, the airline intends to add international routes, targeting nearby regional markets and later expanding further abroad.

This phased approach will enable Air Karachi to establish operational strength and build a loyal customer base before entering the competitive global market.

Contribution to the Economy and Industry Growth

Air Karachi’s launch is expected to bring substantial benefits to Pakistan’s economy. It will create new employment opportunities in aviation, engineering, ground handling, and tourism-related services. Additionally, it brings much-needed competition to the market, which could result in better pricing, more frequent flights, and enhanced service quality.

Industry analysts see Air Karachi as a positive development for the country’s transportation infrastructure. Its presence could contribute to greater connectivity, economic growth, and enhanced regional integration.
