Capital Hospitals on High Alert as Islamabad Finalizes Emergency Response Plans

Islamabad, 10 May,2025: A potential emergency situation looming in the country, Islamabad’s district administration has confirmed that preparations across the capital hospitals have been completed to manage any crisis scenario.

Officials have declared a state of heightened readiness at all hospitals in the federal capital, deploying emergency measures to ensure swift medical support and public safety.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon stated that 2,389 additional capital hospital beds have been allocated across 19 healthcare facilities throughout the city.

These steps aim to bolster the healthcare system’s capacity in the event of a major emergency.

Ambulance Support and Medical Resources Ready

According to the district administration, 69 ambulances have been placed on standby across various medical centres, ready to respond within moments.

Authorities have also ensured the availability of essential supplies, including medication, oxygen, and blood units.

Memon further noted that 26 ambulances would remain on standby at the District Health Office, while Rescue 1122 has committed an additional 12 emergency vehicles.

Shelters, Volunteers, and Control Room Operations

As part of the contingency planning, 46 emergency shelters have been established across the city to accommodate citizens in need during a crisis.

In addition, around 446 Civil Defence volunteers will participate in relief operations, ensuring manpower support during rescue efforts.

To coordinate the response, a 24/7 operational control room has been activated at the Safe City Complex, allowing continuous monitoring and response coordination.

Emergency sirens have been installed on 48 high-rise buildings, and local mosques have been engaged for public announcement support in case of urgent developments.

Public Advised to Stay Alert and Cooperate

All field officers have been instructed to remain deployed on-site, and the Deputy Commissioner has warned that negligence in duty will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Citizens have been urged to closely follow the district administration’s instructions and extend full cooperation during emergencies.
