Civilian heroes of chairlift operation
ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar today invited the civilian heroes and SSG Commandoes who played a vital role in the success of the chairlift rescue operation in Battagram. PM Kakar has invited the heroes to acknowledge their bravery for saving lives of stranded students and a teacher.
It is expected that the caretaker PM will give cash rewards to the civilians who took the risk and saved precious lives.
About five local civilians participated in the ground operations after sunset to rescue eight stranded individuals on Tuesday. Also, some SSG commandoes launched the rescue operation and continued it till its completion.

Sahib Khan, Mohammad Ali, Ilyas, Ammad, and another local civilian participated in the rescue operation that started after sunset when the helicopter gave up the operation.
Muhammad Ali and two of his team members _ Ilyas and Ammad arrived at the rescue spot in the evening. Army officials transported them to Battagram from Mansehra. They belong to Heavensway Company which deals with chairlift operations.
Meanwhile, Sahib Khan from the Bisham district of KP, had already reached the spot. Sahib Khan and his family members are in the business of building and installing cable cars.
With the support of the army teams, the local civilians installed a mini-cable car and launched the rescue operation. Within a few hours’ efforts, they succeeded in bringing the stranded individuals to the ground from the chairlift that was hanging 600 feet high above the clouds.
Though different teams belonging to the army and civilians participated in the rescue operation, Sahib Khan has emerged as a hero of people on social media.

Meanwhile, Sahib Khan has become a social media hero on Wednesday. He is a civilian and an expert in chairlifts who played a key role in the successful rescue of stranded children.
Sahib Khan assisted the army officials and the SSG commandos in safe rescue of the stranded students through ground operations. The rescue teams initiated ground operations after sunset with the help of civilian experts especially Sahib Khan.
Sahib Khan, in center in blue dress, is turning into a hero of people on social media.
The military’s helicopters launched the rescue operation on Tuesday noon when videos and messages of stranded individuals hit the media.
The incident took place in the early hours as six students, a teacher and a local resident were going to school via a chairlift. They became trapped when two cables of the cable car broke.
