Student Movement Calls Off Nationwide Agitation
The Gen-Z-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday announced an end to its weeks-long nationwide protests against alleged examination paper leaks after the government agreed to accept the demands raised by students, according to a CJP spokesperson .
The decision came after successful negotiations between government representatives and student leaders, marking a significant victory for the youth-led movement that had mobilized thousands of young people across India .
Key Demands Accepted
During a joint press conference, Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, along with student representatives, announced that the government would provide:
- Dignified compensation to families of students who died by suicide following the cancellation of the NEET examination
- Withdrawal of all cases registered against protesters during the demonstrations
The protests’ key demand—the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan—was also accepted by the government on Saturday .
CJP Announces End to Agitation
CJP spokesperson Saro Das said all major demands of the protesters had been accepted, prompting the group to call off the agitation with immediate effect. He urged participants to end the protest peacefully and return to their homes.
