Islamabad, July 5, 2025: In England women vs India women, England defeated India and score a thrilling win. England Women survived an incredible batting collapse and several dropped catches to edge out India Women by five runs in a last-ball nail-biter at the Kia Oval, keeping their T20I series alive.

After cruising to 137 without loss in the 16th over—anchored by impressive half-centuries from Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, England Women shockingly lost nine wickets for just 31 runs in a chaotic 25-ball period. Deepti Sharma and Arundhati Reddy grabbed three wickets each, while N. Shree Charani took two.

India Women seemed set for an easy chase following an 85-run opening stand between Smriti Mandhana, who played a stylish knock, and Shafali Verma. However, Lauren Filer’s fiery pace proved decisive, especially when she removed Mandhana in the 16th over, finishing with 2 for 30. Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Bell, and Issy Wong picked up a wicket apiece.

Dunkley’s 75 off 53 balls was her first significant innings this season, while Wyatt-Hodge’s 66 off 42 broke her run of poor scores.

Whether this spirited win under Tammy Beaumont—filling in for injured captain Nat Sciver-Brunt—can swing the series remains to be seen, as India Women had dominated the first two matches. The next match is set for Wednesday in Manchester.
