In a powerful demonstration of solidarity and resolve, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), paid a morale-boosting visit to the frontlines along the Line of Control (LoC) on the occasion of Eid ul Adha, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and honouring the sacrifices of its armed forces.
The visit came in the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following cross-border hostilities and tragic civilian casualties on both sides. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, the army chief offered heartfelt Eid greetings, led special prayers for national peace, and acknowledged the unwavering dedication of troops stationed far from their families.
Strong Words of Appreciation for Frontline Troops
Addressing the soldiers during his visit, Field Marshal Munir praised the bold and effective response by Pakistani forces in avenging the loss of innocent Pakistani lives, including children, women, and the elderly, following unprovoked Indian aggression.
“You have befittingly avenged the loss of lives of innocent Pakistani civilians through your bold and effective response,” he stated, commending the troops’ operational excellence and patriotism.
The Field Marshal lauded their steadfast resolve and professionalism under extreme circumstances and paid tribute to their courage and high morale, noting that their sacrifice on the sacred occasion of Eid served a superior national purpose.
Tribute to Fallen Heroes and Ghazis
During the Eid prayers with frontline personnel, special supplications were made for the eternal peace of the Shuhada (martyrs) who laid down their lives in the defence of Pakistan.
Gen Munir paid tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis (war veterans) of Operation Bunyaanum Marsoos, launched in retaliation to Indian attacks, stating their courage and sacrifices continue to fortify the nation’s resolve and security.
Details of the Recent Military Standoff
The backdrop of the COAS’s visit is the recent military confrontation between India and Pakistan, which erupted following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where 26 tourists were killed. India swiftly and falsely blamed Pakistan, leading to a series of cross-border strikes that lasted several days.
In response to unprovoked Indian shelling on Pakistani civilians, the Pakistan Armed Forces launched Operation Bunyaanum Marsoos, a highly coordinated military operation aimed at neutralizing Indian aggression.
According to ISPR:
- Six Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets were reportedly downed, including three Rafales.
- Dozens of surveillance and attack drones were destroyed.
- The standoff, lasting nearly 87 hours, ended with a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States on May 10.
Reaffirmation of Kashmir Cause
In his address, the COAS strongly reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on the Kashmir dispute, highlighting the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people against Indian occupation.
“The just and valiant struggle of the Kashmiri people against the illegal Indian occupation will never be forgotten,” Field Marshal Munir emphasized.
He reiterated the need for a peaceful resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
Confidence in Pakistan’s Military Preparedness
The army chief expressed complete confidence in the battle preparedness and operational readiness of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He commended the troops for maintaining constant vigilance and high morale despite harsh conditions and continuous threats.
Khamenei Rejects US Pressure for Nuclear Talks
“The Armed Forces of Pakistan are fully capable and always prepared to decisively deter and defeat any act of aggression,” he asserted.
His interaction with troops served not only as an assurance of institutional support but also as a clear signal to both domestic and international observers of Pakistan’s defensive resolve and strategic clarity.
Strategic and Symbolic Significance
The presence of Field Marshal Munir at the LoC during Eid carries both strategic and symbolic significance. It sends a resounding message to adversaries that Pakistan’s armed forces remain united, prepared, and resolute in the face of any threat. It also serves as a powerful morale booster for the troops who continue to defend the borders under immense pressure.
Upon his arrival, the COAS was received by the Commander of Rawalpindi Corps, who briefed him on operational readiness and latest developments along the LoC.
