Geo News Producer kidnapped, Karachi Press Club condemns the incident, demands release of Zubair Anjum
KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Zubair Anjum, executive producer of Geo News in Karachi has been kidnapped at gunpoint in Karachi.
Unknown armed men abducted Geo News Executive Producer from home and took him to an undisclosed location.
Karachi Press Club and other journalists’ organizations have strongly condemned the kidnapping of a senior producer. The incident has been termed an attempt to silence press freedom.
President Karachi Press Club Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, and other elected members of the KPC demanded the immediate release of Zubair Anjum. They also demanded action against the kidnappers.
The representatives of Karachi Union of Journalists have also condemned the incident and demanded forthwith release of Zubair Anjum.
The KPC elected representatives have contacted the Inspector General of Police and Interior Minister for the release of the Geo News Executive Producer.
In Karachi, the journalists and KPC have decided to hold a protest outside the Press Club in case Zubair Anjum was not released.
