LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Hasaan Niazi, nephew of Imran Khan, is in the custody of army for his trial in the military court.

The police informed the Lahore High Court on Friday about the position of Hassaan Niazi.

Hassaan has been nominated as the primary suspect in the Jinnah House attack case in Lahore. The incident occurred subsequent to the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan in Islamabad on May 9. Consequently, Hassaan will undergo investigation and trial under military jurisdiction.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police arrested Hassaan Niazi. However, the KP police handed over Hassaan to the Quetta Police. Then the police officials handed him over to the military at the request of the commanding officer.

Hafeezullah Niazi, father of Hassaan Niazi confirmed this development through his social media account.

The police report mentioned, “Niazi is involved in the attack on Jinnah House (Lahore’s Corps Commander House).”

Hafeezullah Niazi had filed a plea in the LHC seeking his son’s recovery.

In today’s hearing, Additional Advocate General Ghulam Sarwar Nahang presented the police report before Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed. Nahang informed the court about Hassaan’s military court trial and his handing over to the army.

The petitioner’s lawyer urged the court to arrange Hassaan’s meeting with his parents. In response, the court instructed the law officer to communicate the possible timing for the meeting.

“I can ascertain the procedures and regulations in this regard and inform accordingly,” Nahang replied. Subsequently, the court granted an adjournment to provide clarity on the procedures and rules.
